Bright Star Cafe April 27 2012 – Mary Kearns

Join me, Sue Hines, and Maya White on the radio at Bright Star Cafe on Friday afternoon on New Sky Radio Powered by CBS

Mary Kearns is the owner and founder of Herban Lifestyle, LLC, a handcrafted herbal bath and body product company that she created in 2008. Herban Lifestyle is a certified green business by Green America, and certified cruelty-free through Leaping Bunny.

Mary has a background and interest in psychology, sustainable business practices and crafting.  She is passionate about helping people to be their happiest, healthiest selves.  Mary likes to share information on healthy, sustainable living.

She is launching a new social enterprise, Herban Crafts, which will offer kits that teach people how to make their own earth-friendly products. The revenue from sales will help fund a job skills training program for women living in transitional housing, who will help with the manufacturing of the kits.

It’s empowering for the consumers who buy the kits, who learn how to take charge of the products in their lives, as well as for the trainees who will benefit from the program.

Mary holds a BA in Fine Arts/Communications and a PhD in Developmental Psychology, with a focus on Behavioral Health. When she is not making bath and body products, she works as a consultant in the scientific review of cancer prevention programs. She is an active member of the green and crafting communities, both in the Greater DC area and nationally. Her memberships include Green America, Eco Etsy, Etsy Earth, and ThinkLocalFirst. She is also on the Board of Directors of the American Sustainable Business Council.

Mary Kearns is the author of “Growing Toward Balance, Achievable Ideas for Bringing Harmony to Your Mind, Body, and Spirit” AND  “It’s Your Time Now, What Will You Do With It? An 8-Week Plan for Figuring Out the What’s Next in Your Life.”
